Pick some flowers and dissect them to learn about their parts. 

Watch the videos below to learn about the parts of flowers and what they do. Then you can do your own investigating!

Head out into the garden and pick some flowers to dissect, look closely at, compare, and learn from. When you open up the flowers, what parts can you see?  What do you notice?  What is the same about each flower and what is different?

Watch this video for a STEM activity comparing the parts of 3 flowers. You’ll need 3 flowers to dissect. Have a go at this activity and learn lots about the parts of flowers, the similarities and the differences between them.

Note: You can use pieces of paper, rather than paper plates to sort the parts of your flowers on to.
