The Possum Night Trail Run

Kids Greening Taupō were very lucky to be chosen as the official charity partner for the Possum Night Trail Run in 2021. We love the Possum Run, as it is a local event that aims to get families out enjoying, exploring and connecting with their local environment, and that’s what Kids Greening Taupō are all about!

The Possum Night Trail Run is held on the shortest day and the darkest night of the year. Entrants run or walk 5km, 12km or 21km through steaming fields on single track. The fact that it showcases the geothermal activity that is on our doorstep, and gets people out at night in the middle of winter, a time when we often stay indoors, makes us love this event even more!

We had a stand at registration on the day of the event to tell people about what we do, and to share some native plant knowledge.

Our education coordinator, Rachel, ran the 5km event with her seven year daughter and had a fantastic time. She ran the event two years ago with her son when he was five, but this year he took off and left her in his dust… well maybe in his muddy footprints!

The event really is a unique, fun, family friendly event. People dress up with lights and bright colours and everyone has a headlamp to see where they are going when they head off into the steamy darkness to follow the trail. It is like a winter festival atmosphere with music, lights, and delicious food on offer. Held at the Wairakei Resort, people are able to have a hot swim after their adventure.

We were super excited to be involved in this event, and were really amazed at the generosity of the organisers and entrants. $1000 of cash donations and 345 trees were donated to Kids Greening Taupō , so a total value of $2575 was gratefully received by us. This money will go to buying native trees to be planted by local children in their school and kindergarten restoration areas next year.

Thank you so much to Nick and Amy from Element Events for choosing us. We hope we can be involved again next year!

Kim Manunui

Hi, I’m Kim and I work with a great team to help individuals, as well as small and not so small businesses get their message, product and services to the world using digital media and creating wonderful websites that don’t cost the earth.

I was born in Canada, and grew up around Vancouver and the mountains of British Columbia. My love of pristine environments led me to New Zealand and eventually to the mountains, lakes and rivers of the central North Island which is home. My family’s heritage is here, and it’s from here that Korio traverses the planet.

The digital world is never static and neither are we.

And I say ‘we’ because I work with an awesome group of talented people who I gather together as required to complete a project.  Whatever your business, not-for-profit or individual needs are we gather the best team to get the job done.

Collaboratively we are creative, share sustainable values and work hard for great outcomes because that’s the buzz of satisfaction that drives us.

If you have an audience and market to reach, we can make that happen. Creative design, words that work and smart behind the scenes stuff that cuts through the online noise. We’ll design your website and then build it. We’ll manage the content as well as all your hosting needs. We can handle your online advertising so you get noticed,
and we’ll manage your social media presence so you get the clicks, likes and engagement to grow your business. All within the budget you set, because none of this needs to cost the earth.  And the job doesn’t stop when your website goes live. We are your virtual business partner.
