Wiremū Street Reserve Mulching
Tongariro School and Te Kura o Hīrangi students met up again at the Wiremū St Reserve site that they planted with us and Taupō District Council last year. They were like proud parents, finding their little plants that they had planted and mulched last year, weeding around them and giving them a new blanket of mulch for the winter. The plants looked great! After using up a whole pile of mulch, the students grabbed loppers and grubbers, cleared bigger weeds from around the site and infill planted with a few more native trees. It's so fantastic to see these rangatahi taking ownership of this site and looking after it. They are hoping to see it turn into a ngahere that they can be proud of for years to come.
Thanks Waikato Regional Council EIF funding for allowing these sessions to take place.
