Country Kidz arrived to the Waipāhīhī Botanical Gardens full of energy and excitement. They learned about how the plants can provide for our lives in so many different ways. It provides fresh vegetables without the need of refrigeration with plants like kōwaowao. Electricity isn’t needed if you have silver ferns lighting your path. The largest plaster ever can be found within the rimu tree, as it can help stop bleeding. Clothes, houses, baskets, and many more things can be provided from harakeke and tī kōuka. We are so grateful for a place like the Waipāhīhī Botanical Gardens to provide a place for the youngest of our community to explore and understand these concepts.
