Growing Leaders in Pureora Forest
What better way to wrap up the term than with a real outdoor adventure?
At the end of Term One, a group of our senior student leaders swapped classrooms for canopies, heading deep into Pureora Forest for an unforgettable day with AdventureWorks Ltd. This wasn’t just a walk in the bush — it was a full-on, hands-on, feet-wet, out of your comfort zone experience.
From river crossings and cliff climbs to bush bashing, compass navigation, and even fire making, our rangatahi faced challenges that pushed them out of their comfort zones and into their courage zones. Along the way, they built shelters, learned survival skills, and discovered just how capable they really are — as individuals and as a team.
Experiences like these are so important for our young environmental leaders. They’re not only learning practical outdoor skills, but also building resilience, leadership, and connection — to each other, to te taiao (the natural world), and to themselves.
A huge thank you to AdventureWorks Ltd for guiding us through such an inspiring day!
