Mihi & Rangitaiki Schools explore Opepe

In May, the students from Mihi School made a special journey across the other side of SH5 to visit Opepe Reserve, where they met up with our coordinator Heidi and the tamariki from Rangitaiki School.

Together, they explored the ngahere, learning all about the native trees, plants, insects, and birds that call the forest home. As Mihi School put it:

“Heidi taught us lots about the beautiful native trees, plants, insects and birds in the ngahere — and now we know we need to plant more miro trees to attract the kererū back to Mihi School!”

After the forest adventure, Mihi and Rangitaiki students shared lunch and sunshine at Rangitaiki School — with plenty of time for play and connection on the playground.
