What can Kids Greening Taupō Provide?
Sessions about our biodiversity crisis and why our animals are so unique, and so vulnerable (this links with Aotearoa NZ Histories Curriculum)
Sessions about introduced predators, making tracking tunnels, setting a trapline etc
Teacher professional development workshops or in-school staff PD.
Events such as Greening Taupō Day (Environmental Festival), Matariki Planting, Mulching Day, and Watering/Weeding events.
Contact Energy Take Action Fund- $300 each year for core centres + Larger Fund (up to $1500 for a project).
Tuesday ‘Wicked Weeders’ sessions- short tailored workshop, and then a hands on learning experience available every Tuesday
Workshops on the Fridays before planting days when we lay out plants

Schools may have the opportunity to have a Kiwis for Kiwi experience at the Crombie Lockwood kiwi burrow thanks to the Kiwi Contact Programme.
Local environmental education experts to do talks/workshops/planning assistance/support projects
Communication about other opportunities in environmental education as they arise
You are also welcome to request coordinator support for
Relevant school events (camps, planting events, bushwalks etc)
School/ECE centre restoration planting and maintenance opportunities- we can bring a class set of tools and gloves
Visits to classes undertaking environmental education projects
Attendance at relevant staff meetings and planning meetings
Environmental education advice and support with planning
Guided bush walks at Opepe, Te Totara Gully, Waipahihi Botanical Gardens, Whakaipo Bay, and other local spots
