Freshwater Macroinvertebrate Resources

We are super excited to finally be putting our new Freshwater Macroinvertebrates resources online free for everyone to download and use! Stream studies for students often involve collecting macroinvertebrates as an indicator of how clean the water is. We always felt that the part of this activity that interested our students even more was the fact that those little critters will one day turn into the beautiful flying insects that they are familiar with, such as dragonflies. We couldn't find resources that showed this. It has been a mission to find photos that we could use to create these resources, but thanks to some amazingly generous photographers, we have finally done it! These are all now available to download for free! Thanks so much Emily Roberts and the others who contributed.

Download the pdfs to print for free in our ‘Investigate a Stream Resource’ or in our River Ecosystem Online Nature Classroom.
