New Te Reo Māori Resources!

Te Kura o Hirangi tried out our new freshwater macroinvertebrate resources

We were very lucky to receive EIF funding from Waikato Regional Council to support our programme to work with kura kaupapa and kōhanga reo. Part of the funding was to create te reo Māori resources for kaiako and whānau to use. Having resources available in te reo Māori has always been important to us, as we understand the frustration of our teaching colleagues who work in a reo Māori setting and are having to constantly create their own resources, as they are often only available in English. We love being able to make their lives easier and provide the tamariki with the same fantastic resources that are available to their mainstream peers. All the stars aligned when Akuira Walker, previously principal of TKKM o Whakarewa I Te Reo Ki Tuwharetoa bumped into us at an event and commented that he loved what we do and would like to support us if we needed help with anything. We said, “Well, actually… we have got the perfect job for you!”

Akuira was amazing! He worked with us to translate all of our latest resources and help us translate explanations to go with them on the webpages. We are really proud to be able to provide these resources free of charge with no watermarks, sign ups or other catches. Akuira says how much he loved using our resources when he was teaching at the kura, and he’s excited to be able to provide more rauemi (resources) for other teachers working in kura kaupapa Māori.

You can see some examples of some of the resources below.
